Because of their undeniable background as a fighting breed, we do not make same sex-placements with our dogs or place them in multiple dog homes. We might place a Pit Bull in a home with a compatible dog of the opposite sex, but we ask our adopters to follow certain safety measures. Some of the most important are: never to leave the dogs unsupervised, always monitor roughhousing, and avoid triggers that could cause conflicts such as bones, toys, or food. We also require that the dogs we place not be taken to dog parks. For more information about the Pit Bull breed, please read MPR's Breed's Overview.
MPR group conducts a homecheck before placing a dog in a new home. The goal of the home visit is not only to see where our protégés will live, but also to give our adopters a chance to get to know us better. We like to develop a good relationship with people who adopt a dog from us and to provide breed education prior to our placements. Meeting with everyone in the family facilitates this exchange. Our homechecks are not intrusive. The most important thing for us is to know that our dogs are going in safe and caring homes and that all the members of the family are well informed and prepared for a life long commitment with their new companion.
2 week trial and Return Policy |
|
Our goal is to make the best possible match, to ensure this, MPR offers a 2-week trial period to all adopters to make sure a dog they welcome into their home is the right fit. MPR does not want anyone to feel pressured to keep a dog they don't have a good connection with. If a dog you adopt from MPR does not work in your home for any reason MPR ask that you immediately return said dog to the organization within 2 weeks. The full amount of the adoption fee will be reimbursed or we will let you try another dog, during this 2-week trial period.
MPR is however, committed to all of our dogs for the remainder of their lives and will always take the dogs back even after the 2-week trial. In such case however, we keep the adoption fee. Please click here for more info about our return policy.
Please make sure you are ready and that the APBT is the right breed for you before you make the commitment to adopt. Welcoming a dog in your home is a 10 to 15 year commitment. MPR suggests reading the Breed Info, Pros & Cons and Pit Bull Ownership articles before making your decision.
You can also meet some of our dogs in person at our adoption events. See the event calendar to know when and where MPR will be attending our next event.
