Not Enough GOOD Homes For Pit Bull Dogs

SPAY & NEUTER
SNKC CAN HELP!

Considering the current situation, MPR does NOT support show breeding, backyard breeding, "game breeding", or ANY form of Pit Bull breeding. Pit Bulls are overflowing and being destroyed in area shelters - There is NO excuse to add more to an already over-saturated market.

   Adoption Information

Remember, when you adopt a dog from MPR it makes room in our program to save another life...

MPR dogs come from all walks of life. Some are bailed out of shelters, some were found as strays, some were removed from difficult situations, some lost their homes due to BSL, etc.. The dogs in our program are kept in boarding or in foster care until a good home is found. Some spend several weeks, sometimes months, waiting for the right home. MPR believes it is important to match the right dog with the right owner and we keep our dogs as long as it takes to find their perfect family. Call us eHarmony for APBTs.

While in our program, the dogs are thoroughly evaluated, socialized, house-trained, crate-trained and taught basic manners. Note that an evaluation is not a guarantee of the dog's future behavior. The evaluation allows us to determine how the dog behaves when introduced to certain situations while in our care and gives us a good idea of their personality. Click Here for more information.

       Adoption Restrictions

Though no one likes to think about the sad past of the breed, we are not in denial about it either. Because of its undeniable ancestry as a fighting breed, MPR does not encourage sex-placements and will not place a Pit Bull in multiple dog homes. We might place a Pit Bull in a home with a compatible dog of the opposite sex, but we ask our adopters to follow certain safety measures. Some of the most important are: never to leave the dogs unsupervised, always monitor roughhousing and avoid triggers that could cause conflicts such as bones, toys, or food. We also require that the dogs we place not be taken to dog parks. For more information about the Pit Bull breed, please read MPR's Breed's Overview.

       Meeting you

MPR group conducts a homecheck before placing a dog in a new home. The goal of the home visit is not only to see where our protégés will live, but also to give our adopters a chance to get to know us better. We like to develop a good relationship with people who adopt a dog from us and to provide breed education prior to our placements. Meeting with everyone in the family facilitates this exchange. Our homechecks are not intrusive. The most important for us is to know that our dogs are going to safe and caring homes and that all the members of the family are well informed and prepared for a life long commitment with their new companion.

2 week trial and Return Policy

Our goal is to make the best possible match. To ensure this, MPR offers a 2-week trial period to all adopters to make sure a dog they welcome into their home is the right fit. MPR does not want anyone to feel pressured to keep a dog they don't have a good connection with. If a dog you adopt from MPR does not work in your home for any reason MPR asks that you immediately return said dog to the organization within 2 weeks. The full amount of the adoption fee will be reimbursed or we will let you try another dog, during this 2-week trial period.

MPR is however, committed to all of our dogs for the remainder of their lives and will always take a dog back even after the 2-week trial. In such case however, we keep the adoption fee. Please click here for more info about our return policy.

       Are you ready?

Please make sure you are ready and that the APBT is the right breed for you before you make the commitment to adopt. Welcoming a dog in your home is a 10 to 15 year commitment. MPR suggests reading the Breed Info, Pros & Cons and Pit Bull Ownership articles before making your decision.
