7/2/2010 UPDATE:
I wanted to reiterate what Bob has said about Axis but from a mother's
point of view. I have to say when Bob brought him home, I was a
little worried because of all the negative attention Pitbulls get.
However, I love animals and was willing to give it a try. Axis is the
most gentle, loving, yet goofy dog. My kids adore him, especially my
8-year-old. He literally lays on the carpet with him, with his head
on Axis' belly and they sleep. He begs to have Axis sleep in his bed
with him, and I am sure Axis would love it. As far as the cats, Axis
is very indifferent to them. The only time he gets excited around him
is when they hiss at him and hit him. He is not mad at them, just
curious. We even caught Axis and one of my cats napping together.
Axis has been a wonderful addition to our family and I have absolutely
no worries about any aggression from him. He even does not get
possessive of his food. He is really just a big baby who wants to be
around people. I tell everyone I get the chance that Pitbulls are
seriously misunderstood and hope more people get that message. It is
really a shame that we can't live in certain cities because of his
breed, but he is worth it and I don't want to live in a city anyway
who is so uneducated :)
Thanks for all your help with Axis.
