 Bayla   ADOPTED

PBRC ID Number: (#8022)

Breed: Pit Bull

Sex: Female (Spayed)

Age: About 3 years old

Weight: About 51 Lbs

Color: Blue w/White Markings

Good with dogs: Yes

Good with cats: Yes

Nicknames: Bay and Pretty Girl

Even incredible beauties like Bayla are found abandoned, cold and staring in the streets. Blue dogs used to be rare. We now find them by the dozens on deathrow at our local shelters.

Story: Bayla was found by two women in Raytown. They dropped her off at the Raytown Animal Control. Bayla was never claimed but the ladies at the clinic suspect the ladies who dropped her off were her owners. Bayla has been a breeding machine probably her whole life.

Life has definitely changed for this sweetheart. She now has a chance to be happy and loved.

Foster Situation: Bayla is fostered with a male pit bull mix and three cats. She gets along with her kitty friends. She wants to play with the cats but they're not quit sure of her yet. She has not meet the other dog in the house but she has meet the neighbor dog through the fence and seem to do well with him.

Training: Bayla is housebroken and crate trained. Bayla knows how to sit, stay, come and what no means. This beauty was obviously well trained and taken care of.

Personality: Bayla loves attention and loves to play. She is a very happy go lucky dog who loves to cuddle and play fetch. Bayla is a very calm mellow dog.

Best Attribute: Bayla has a beautiful face and is well trained. If you are looking for a more mellow dog Bayla is the one.

May 22, 2008 Update: Bayla Blue continues to do very well.  After being diagnosed with muscle scarring and fibrosis as the cause of her limp, I have started her on Rimadyl.  She is doing great -- limping much less, even after activity (like a long walk) that left her almost crippled just a month ago.  I have also noticed she has much more energy (not always a great thing, ha ha!) and is walking faster and more enthusiastically.  This is good because both of us look forward to a 2-4 mile walk daily, along with a swim in a nearby creek (for Bayla).

We walked with a team from my veterinary clinic at a local "ARF-ritis" walk last weekend to raise money for the National Arthritis Society.  I was a bit apprehensive because this would be Bayla's first real exposure to lots of other dogs.  Well, she did GREAT!  As you can see in the pictures, no dog aggression at all -- even when the 130lb 3-ft tall Great Dane stood over her!  I was a proud mom, you bet.

Bayla

7/2/2008 UPDATE: Hello MPR --

Thought you would enjoy these pictures!

A clue into Bayla's past ... she definitely has seen a trampoline before! The first time she saw it in our yard she clearly asked me to lift her onto it, and then she immediately started JUMPING on the trampoline! Now she can leap up herself, and it is her favorite activity -- she will jump all day if I let her. Everyone who sees her agrees it is the funniest thing ever. I think the side view shot would make a great calendar pic, don't you?

The picture of her sitting pretty ... if you look you will see she is filthy on her shoulders and neck and head ... that is not mud, that is COYOTE DIARRHEA -- her newest favorite thing to roll in! But just look how pleased she is with herself (note -- the next activity was a BATH!)

We enjoy her so much.

Kirsten
