Handsome Boy | Relaxing
Foster Situation: Blue is fostered with two dogs, a pup and a cat. He has met the dogs through a baby gate, and during a walk around the neighborhood. At this time they are just curious about each other, and sniff a lot at the gate. Blue and the puppy have been introduced and they are best friends. As you see, Blue loves to cuddle. Blue has yet to see the cat as she prefers to stay in other areas of the house.
Blue likes to run around the fenced yard for short periods of time, but he prefers to be in the house most of the time. He's quite the couch potatoe and when allowed, he likes to watch out the window. Blue rides very well in the car, but needs more practice walking on a leash.
Blue eats his meals and sleeps in his crate. He is now comfortable with his crate, and will sometimes walk into the crate to nap during his "free time" in the house!
Life is so much better now
Training: Blue was initially resistant to crate training but has taken to it very well! Since he was curious to meet our dogs, we put his crate infront of the gate - at that point Blue went right into his crate so he could watch the dogs! He is now learning to "go to your house" when it is time to crate up and night and for feedings.
Blue is very eager to please. He learned his name rather quickly and responds well. He listens well when we say "no". He knows how to sit, and we are working on lay down.

Personality: Blue is a silly boy! He is so happy when he sees anyone that his tail spins like a windmill.
Blue is inquisitive. If you leave the room he will follow to check it out. He especially likes men and is has becomes his foster dad's shadow! Once he is comfortable, he will lay down and watch while we cook, clean or watch tv.
Blue is fairly quiet. He doesn't bark often, unless he hears other dogs barking.

Best Attribute: Besides Blue's gorgeous eyes, his best feature is he so happy! It's impossible to look at him and not smile.

UPDATE 4/3/2008: Blue is doing very well in our house. His frostbite spots have almost completely healed! Blue has now been introduced to our two dogs, and they get along well. He has daily supervised playtime with them, but he prefers to play with his foster-sister Butterball. Even though Blue is 3-years old, he has the high energy level of a puppy. Blue is the fastest runner! He loves to run around the yard while the other dogs attempt to catch him (but they can't keep up!). His favorite toys are rope bones for tug-o-war, or nylabones. Blue loves car rides, especially when he can stick his nose out the window!
Blue loves to lay on the kitchen floor and watch when anyone is cooking. He won't beg, but Blue loves munching on veggies that are tossed his direction. He is the biggest baby and enjoys cuddling on the couch in the evening.
UPDATE 4/20/2008 Thanks to the great support we got for our fund raiser, Blue Ice had dental work done on 04/15/20. His teeth are now clean and healthy and he's got puppy breath again! Blue Ice says "THANK YOU! |
