Neptune has been living with me and my dog for several weeks now. I watched him evolve from a sad and mellow guy recently neutered to a happy-go-lucky guy satisfied with the simplest things. So easy to please. Neptune is still thrilled over a bowl of water and some grub, let alone his hop, skip, and jumping around in the backyard. His 'lil wiggle butt won my heart over again and again.
He welcomes any visitors that come into my home like a long lost cousin. He loves to stay right by my side when out in the backyard. It took some time to see him wander off and explore on his own, as he wanted to be sure you were not going to leave him. And once he was convinced, his goofiness sprouted!
Cute Boy
He is great on a leash, never pulling and always walking well. From my experience, not all dogs know what to do once on a leash and must think that walking under your feet is acceptable. Not Cutie-patutie Neptune; he stays by my side and never pulls. This is a pleasant break since my own 'lil guy seems to be completely oblivious to his own strength.
Neptune sleeps in his crate at night and appreciates having his special place to call his own. He is perfectly housebroken.
Neptune and my dog have been introduced and do very well together Neptune couldn't care less and tolerates my dog very well. He appears very patient with other dogs, calm and well behaved. Though he gets along well with other pets when introduced properly, Neptune is very much a people-dog.
Being Silly | More Silliness
The heartworm condition has been treated and Neptune is ready to find his forever home. This loving boy can't wait to give his heart to a new family.
8/17/2009 - A Note from Neptune:
I love playing in the yard with all my friends, I had to wait oh so patiently for those silly humans do to the slow introductions they insist on doing. Once the waiting time was over, it was on! There's nothing like a game of "monkey see, monkey do" with your friends when you have a whole yard to play in. It was so much fun to have our friends over for the week! Mom had to switch up our schedule some and we had lots of time to play with everyone. I got to learn all kinds of new things I didn't know about before.
My friend Monty taught me how to make all different kinds of sounds that I've been tryin to test out. I can't quite imitate all the animal sounds like he can, but I try to sing a song like he does. PhePhe was such a great leader showing me and guiding me how to go from point A to point B without any detours. Wow, he sure has self control, and now that he taught me that, I have more freedoms because my foster mom sees that I know the rules now. Plus, sharing a room with everyone taught me the importance of a few things, like the quality of a bone and what to exactly do with it when it's put in my crate. IM SUPPOSED TO CHEW ON IT!! Who knew?? I really like that too. Before I always looked at mom like she was forgetting something... "Hello lady, isn't this supposed to have peanut butter in it at ALL times?" But my friends showed me it doesn't have to, I now know I can chew on the bones and still enjoy that (and I overheard something about it helping keep my teeth clean, whatever that means)!
You know what the best-est part of all is? All the running and skipping in the backyard. I heard mom telling her friend what a wiggle-butt I am. I guess that's a good thing; it made them smile anyway. The simplest things excite me and I just love to show my gratitude for seeing what a good life this is and I can be a loved family member, not just a "thing" in the back yard. |
