Sweetheart | Precious | Too Cute!
Story: Just as the weather dropped in November - Down to 20 degrees at night... we received a plea of help. A good samaritan found a moma and her 7 pups abandoned under a culvert in a rural area. The mom was starved but had given everything she had to her fat, healthy babies. How could we say no? On Thanksgiving day, a very dedicated volunteer drove several hours to pick up the little gang and bring them to safety. They will never spend a night in the cold again.

Foster Situation: Cornbread is fostered with 3 female dogs of various sizes and 2 cats. He is currently being taught how to respect other dogs and the proper ways to interact with them. His house-mates are a bit older and don't like playing with puppies so his foster parents make it a point to play with him as much as possible. He is hilarious to watch! He has such wonderful facial expressions!
Handsome Boy! | Good Looking Guy!
Training: Cornbread is smart and very responsive. He is pretty much housebroken at this point. He will sleep the entire night (the key is to really play ALOT with him before bedtime) as long as he is given a chance to wear down before bed. Cornbread has also got a pretty darn good sit going on ... He sits most times on the first command. We are working on hand signals with him as well so that you can tell him to do something from across the room without having to holler or anything. He is starting to catch on the the game of "fetch" and while playing this game we also work on his "release" command. Water bottles don't seem to work with this guy so "positive" reinforcement is a must! He responds very well to positive training rather than a very firm one.

Personality: This guy is sooo cute and funny! He loooves to lay on his back and try to chew his nylabones and rope bones. He can entertain himself for extended amounts of time this way. But watch out! When he is ready for some attention, he will put his rear in the air (in a play bow) and romp over to you full speed and jump in your lap. His cuteness makes it hard to get mad at him when he does this little "trick" of his but we are working on his "off" command so that his attention seeking behavior is not so "in your face". Anytime he hears a new noise or just an odd one he will cock his head to the side trying to figure it out ... sooo darn cute!
He has such an expressive face, it is pretty easy to tell what he might be thinking just by looking at him. Cornbread is also driven to please you ... he doesn't like it when he is 'scolded' so if you make it known that you are upset with him, he immediately tries to make amends. His cuteness tends to shadow the fact that even though he wants to please he still needs leadership. This guy definitely needs his exercise too and (even though he loves to cuddle). After all we all know that a tired pit bull is a good pit bull.

Best Attribute: Cornbread is not only gorgeous but he is extremely cute and funny. His looks and light that he brings into a room are equally awesome. Because of his funny, nonstop, expressive personality, you are sure to smile alot with this kid around. When on walks you are sure to have people comment on how pretty he is as well. An all around great dog for an active person and natural leader.

Cornbread "The Hurricane" Thanksgiving here!
Now dat you know my name I can tell you how I gawt it. Cornbwed Tanksgibin came fwom when me an my famwy was found awround Tanksgibin. Horicane came fwom my fostor mom, she said I am wike a horicane in a coupla ways. Forst, she said theor is a mooby cawd Tha Horicane about a guy dat was wongedly accused of somting he did not due. Apparentwy this is tha storwy of my wecent ancestors and what I might face when I grow up. Den secondwy, she said I am wike a horicane when i pway. What she don't know is how much I wub wife. I wub to wake up ebory mornin wif lots of excitement and entusiasm. How could you not, I say?! I lorn somtin new eboryday, or at weest I try. Oh my goodness I have to teel you bout the gweatest ting in tha world! I do this eboryday! My fostor mom lets me ca-dime in this big white timg and take a hot wainy ting wif her.
