Harmony received her name due to her incredibly inner beauty and sweet personality. This dog has an outstanding disposition and everyone is falling in love with her. She is thrilled with the attention!

Don't let the sad face in some of the pictures fool you. Harmony is actually a very happy dog... Provided you don't ignore her. She appears to be pouting in some pictures because there is someone in front of her with a camera clicking away instead of loving on her. As soon as we put the camera down and gave her attention she had the biggest smile in her face.

Harmony's life wasn't always so harmonious.. She actually managed to escape a terrible situation... This dog is the epitome of "breeding machine".... We were told this poor, poor momma dog had about a dozen litters in her life....!! She was rescued from an unscrupulous backyard breeder who bred her over and over again, every heat cycle since she was about 6 months old.  Her last litter might have been to worse one for her. Dad (or one of the dads) was a huge English Mastiff.... Can you imagine what this poor dog went through?

Thankfully, her terrible ordeal is finally over. Harmony has been spayed and is now safe in our program. She will never have to be "barefoot and pregnant" again.

Enjoying the weather | Full of Hope | Such a cute girl

Sadly, having so many litters took its toll on Harmony physically, though it did not affect her amazing personality. She ADORES people and we must stress how loving and friendly this dog is... She loves everyone she meets with all her little heart.... Physically however, her multiple pregnancies left their marks. The skin under her belly is a little loose and her nipples have been stretched. Many people are put off by this and we knew when we took her in the program that finding her a home would not be easy. We strongly fell however, that her difficult past was not a reason to leave her behind. Another rescue groups took her last puppies and MPR offered to welcome mom in the program.

We quickly discovered that Harmony suffered from hip dysplasia, is part due to going through so many pregnancies. We managed to raise the money to repair the hip that was causing her problems and she is doing much better now. Read more about Harmony's Surgery and Rehabilitation.

We can only hope that there is at least one person out there that will feel like us and agree to give this precious dog the loving home she deserves. After all, its not like she meant to find herself in such bad shape....

Such a flirt | Irresistible Pitty smile | What a smile!!

So fine, this loving dog is no beauty queen and will not win a Miss America contest... When it comes to her quality as "family companion" however, Harmony is perfect! She is housebroken, has great manners, is responsive, easy and she loooves being pampered. Hard to tell she has only been an inside dog since she moved into MPR's program. We found out that she had spent most of her life as a neglected and unloved outside dog. We promised her she would always be accepted as a part of the family for now on and would never be forced to live outside by herself again. Needless to say, she couln't be any happier.

Harmony loves to play and romp around in the yard but nothing beats cuddling with a loved one on the couch. As a typical Pit bull, Harmony is very affectionate and craves human attention. She LOOOVEs kids. Perhaps, they were the only humans in her life that always gave her loving attention.

Full of hope | Silly Gal

Harmony is fostered in a home with several dogs and she gets along great with them. She also shares her home with kids and 3 adults. Her butt wags so hard when people give her attention that she looks like she is about to take off flying.

UPDATE from foster family: Harmony is such a wonderful dog. She gets along great with our other dogs (Dawson 3 yrs, Diamond and Cranberry 12 mo)

She is completely housetrained, knows a few simple tricks, and after much work, is finally crate trained. She mostly lounges on the couch, but also has her moments when she just has to run circles around the yard. She is such a great momma. She adopted our Diamond as her own, which now the two are inseparable. (So Cute) Most of the pictures that we have, are actually with both her and Diamond, because of this.

She has gotten SO pretty! When she first came, she looked much older and darker. But after bathing her a few times, we realized that she is actually a real light tannish/blond. Her tummy has tightened up a lot. And somehow she looks younger now. Harmony is truly a perfect dog and so well behaved! ~ Sabrina & Jeff

The young pup and Harmony, an older female Pit Bull, laid on shaded sweet grass watching the reunions.

Sometimes a man, sometimes a woman, sometimes a whole family would approach the Rainbow Bridge, be greeted by their loving pets and cross the bridge together.

The young pup playfully nipped at the older one. "Look! Something wonderful is happening!" Then Harmony suddenly rose to her feet and barked, "Quickly. Get over to the path."

"But that's not my owner," whined the pup, but he did as he was told. Thousands of pets surged forward as a figure in white walked on the path toward the bridge. After the glowing figure passed each animal, that animal bowed it's head in love and respect. The figure finally approached the bridge, and was met by a menagerie of joyous animals. Together, they all walked over the bridge and disappeared.

The young pup was still in awe. "Was that an angel?" he whispered.

"No, son." Harmony replied. "That was more than an angel. That was a person who worked Rescue."

"There was a time during my living years that I went without food, medical care and a person that wanted to cuddle me. The people I once knew harmed me by not feeding me and not caring for my sick body. Oh, I can remember the times I went hungry just like it was yesterday. They insisted that I bear the pain of giving birth to litter after litter of these precious little Pit Bull puppy's, but it took such a toll on my tired body. I cared for every one of those tiny puppies, nursing them, keeping them clean and warm until the people would come for them and take them away. I always prayed that they would have more than what I was given. More food, more water, more hugs and kisses, more time to play!"

"I'm so sorry Harmony." The young pup said softly.

"Then one day there were visitors and they insisted that the people give me to them immediately. They said that there was a foster family that wanted desperately to show me kindness and unconditional love. The Rescue people, called Missouri Pit Bull Rescue, took me to my foster family's house that had a Mom and a Dad and a little girl. The little girl came to me and rubbed my head and knelt down so I could see her close up. She grabbed me around my shoulders and held me and kissed me all over. Wow, did that ever feel nice!"

"They took me to the Dr.'s and did their best to fix my broken body. Caring for me with their gentle hands, letting me take my time walking slowly to the bus stop to take the little girl to school. That was my favorite thing to do but it sure became hard to walk that far." "What happened then?" The pup asked.

"Well, my body just got too tired, I was hurting all the time and finally couldn't walk anymore. They loved me so much and couldn't bear to see me cry and be in so much pain so they held me while I crossed the Bridge and became a doggie angel. My foster family said I would be able to walk and play and even run if I wanted to! Me, running again? Wow! I trusted them, and they were right. My pain is gone now. If the family had not given their time to help rescue a Mama dog like me, I would have never known the gentle kindness of a 'real' family. My foster family loved me even when my body was broken."

Jeff, Sabrina & Jacinda, all of us that make up Missouri Pit Bull Rescue, want to thank you for the time and love you put into Harmony's everyday care. You gave of yourself unselfishly when so many before you used her for their selfish reasons. You made sure that she was as comfortable as possible during her most painful days. We also want to thank you for having the strength to let her go when her body couldn't heal itself anymore. Your family is such a beautiful example of what Rescue and fostering homeless Pit Bulls is all about.
