Story: It is Jade's beauty that first captured our attention but she is proving to have a beautiful personality as well. Her time was up at the shelter the day we went for a visit and we simply could not resist her pretty eyes, begging for a chance.
Jade "used" to be a breeding machine. This is all over now. The skin under her belly and her nipples have been stretched - A sad reminder of her difficult past. It will tighten up now that she has been spayed. You can tell that Blue Jade knows she is now with people who care about her and will never subject her to bad treatment again. Foster Situation: In foster care in a home with kids and a young Pit Bull male. She looooves the kids and is quite the cuddle-bug with them, as well as anyone else she can love on.
She gets along well with her doggy foster brother too but requires supervision around him. She is not too keen about sharing her food, or her couch, or any attention she gets. Her foster family is working on establishing leadership and helping her understand that she will never again miss the things she craves so much.

Training: She was a little reluctant to the crate at first but we figured out that she just needed it to be in a room with the rest of the family. She simply doesn't like to be alone when she knows someone is home. She is fine in her crate provided she sees her loved-ones and can share happy times with them.

Personality: Very fun-loving! Jade is a little timid when she is unsure of someone, but her real personality quickly shines through. Jade was borne to be outgoing and to love everyone and as soon as she realizes that this behavior is accepted from her, she lets her charm come out. She is playful, comical, and very, very loving. She loves to give kisses... In fact, you better be ready for a ton of kisses with Jade, or another dog may be better suited for you. She craves love right now and has so much to give that she just cant help herself.

Best Attribute: We will update Jade's info as soon as we get to know her more. We can tell you however that we already know what her best feature is. She is veeeeeeeery cuddly. A real lap dog and her small size makes her the perfect candidate for her favorite activity. Be prepared to have a very dedicated and loyal lap-warmer if you welcome this blue beauty into your home.

Our Fun-Loving little blue girl tested positive to Heartworm disease. A "strong" positive too that needs to be treated ASAP. HW Treatment is about $200.00 for a dog her size (with rescue discount). Please help us save Jade's life. |

Once treated, Jade will be able to resume a normal life and never worry about those nasty creatures crawling in her heart. Without treatment, Jade will die....
We have encountered more than our share of sick dogs the last few weeks but we don't want to give up on them. We can only do it if we have help from other people who care about those dogs as much as we do...

UPDATE 08/23/07: Thanks to a very generous donation, Jade will get her Heartworm treatment as soon as we find her a safe and loving foster home. Jade sends a big slobbery kiss to Carrie Wilkerson for her precious donation.
UPDATE 09/17/07: Jade has been transferred to a foster home and is currently going through her Heartworm treatment.
UPDATE 10/14/07: Heartworm treatment was a success! Jade is now ready to give her "healthy" heart to a new family! |
