Another treasure found by MPR volunteers in Swope Park.... This little guy was near the end of his road when a good samaritan contacted us and told us about him. He had been feeding the little guy for a few weeks, but Jasper was tired, hot and sick and slowly giving up his struggle to survive. We don't know for sure under what circumstance he found himself homeless but we suspect he might have been purposely abandoned in the area.
Jasper walked right to our volunteer with a happy little wag when she approached him. He appeared very relieved to see a caring face and didn't try to run away or anything. He was more than ready to be helped.
He's in bad shape after his ordeal in the streets but nothing we haven't dealt with before. He is heartworm negative. We are treating him for internal parasites, some minor skin irritation and wounds, and sunburn. Nothing life threatening. What Jasper needed most was love and a chance to rest in safety. He is quickly blossoming.
Waiting for love | Enjoying comfort
Jasper is about as sweet, loving and cuddly as they come. He loves to snuggle with volunteers on the couch and just follow you around slowly. He smiles but has not started playing yet. We know it will come soon. He is still building his strength back now that he is receiving good care.
It's too soon to introduce him to other dogs, but he shows no aggression towards them in the kennel or crate. He seems housebroken and loves to sleep in his crate with blankets and pillows. He totally appreciates love and comfort and you can tell he knows a good thing when he has it.
So Sweet | Irresistible | Chilling | Hopeful
This little boy really is a gem. We just cant believe he was discarded with no second thought.. As they say; "One man's junk is another man's treasure" ... This quote sure applies when it comes to this little treasure.
