Story: He ended up at the shelter after an FBI drug raid on his owners home. When Kirby came to HHPA a volunteer feel in love with him and persuasively got him into MPR's program. He was always such a good boy in his kennel, never barked at anyone, just chilled out in his little bed. The little fellow was underweight and malnourished, his little legs bowed and his feet were splayed.
Foster Situation: Kirby is being fostered in a home in a country setting with several other dogs and 2 cats. He also spends time with his foster parent’s young grandson and does fantastic! He’s getting a lot of supervised socialization opportunities. He gets to play outside in the fenced in yard. He's working on his leash skills.
He does great in the car and gets to go to Orshelns to help his foster mom pick up dog food. He’s the talk of the store! He sleeps in his crate at night.
Kirby would be fantastic in any family, he absolutely loves all dogs, cats, kids, people etc. He would be great in an apartment because he is so small, he would also be great with an older person because he is small and laid back or he would be great with an active family with kids to play with.
Love-a-bull
Training: Kirby is housebroken and crate trained. His foster mom is working on basic commands with him and he has mastered sit so far. He's very eager to please.
Personality: He is an outgoing, silly, playful and easy to handle boy who always has a smile on his face. He loves to sit in your lap and watch TV. He enjoys visitors and especially kids. His foster mom tells us that he is not a morning dog ...when she goes in at 6am he looks at her like she's nuts and stretches and yawns. She lets everyone else out and then comes back for him.
Best Attribute: Kirby is the eternal puppy. He is approx 2 years old according to several vets but he looks like a 4 month old puppy, so he would be someone's forever baby... He also flashes you a very toothy grin which is adorable. His ears go up almost together then flop forward, he is absolutely adorable. He is so tiny so you get the look of a pittie with the size of a lap dog. He is intrigued by the tv, cocks his head to watch it and looks behind it to see where all that is coming from.
