Lacey is a wonderful girl but she has a lot against her. She is black and she is a Pit Bull mix. Statistics show that black dogs are always overlooked and often the last ones to get adopted... For no other reason than the color of their coat... Pit Bull mix are also very challenging to place because people who want a mix usually don't want a pit and people who want a pit dont want a mix...
So being a "black" Pit Bull "Mix" is about the worse thing a homeless dog can be... Nothing to do with their personality and behavior...
Please be the better person that will overlook all those irrational stigmas and love Lacey for the wonderful girl that she is... Regardless the color of her coat and her mix blood heritage.
Story: Lacey has a very touching story. She came to MPR because her mommy was diagnosed with terminal cancer and no longer able to care for her. When MPR took Lacey in, it was very evident that Lacey had been taken good care of and showered with love. Before passing, her mom made it known that her dying wish was to place her precious Lacey into loving home. Won't you help MPR make her wish come true?
UPDATE: Sadly, Lacey's mommy recently lost her battle with cancer. At least she knew that Lacey was well cared for and safe.
Foster Situation: Lacey is fostered in a home with a cat and another dog. She does wonderful with both of them. She is used to being in a house with older kids and has also been around toddlers. Even though she is an energetic, happy dog, she is gentle around little ones. She has never tried to jump up on the toddler while playing. She does great with cats and enjoys playing with them if they want to. If not, she just ignores them. She has taken a few good smacks on the nose and never once tried to retaliate.
Lacey also loves to run in the backyard with her dog friends.
Training: Lacey is housebroken and crate trained. She can sit and she walks pretty good on a leash. Lacey knows how to stay and shake.
Personality: Lacey is a fun loving gal with a moderate energy level. She has a good balance of playfulness and poise. She likes to play fetch with a squeaky ball, run around with her animal friends, and cuddle with her humans. She has welcomed all of the strangers she has met, both animal and human alike.
