Story: Layla originally came to MPR several years ago. It was near Thanksgiving and she had just had a litter of puppies. A nice woman found her and the puppies and thankfully contacted MPR to come rescue them all. Layla did well at the shelter and was eventually adopted out. She lived for several years in a home with 3 or 4 other dogs until her former owner became pregnant. The owner decided she didn't want a new baby and 4 dogs and chose to get rid of Layla. Thankfully, one of our volunteers went to the home and pulled the dog before she was given away or turned into another shelter.
Gorgeous | Stunning
Foster Situation: Layla currently lives in a home with another female pit bull and a cat. To minimize the anxiety and trauma of moving into a new home, Layla has not yet been introduced to either of her foster siblings. However, she does go on walks with the other dog and she does great. Layla has also seen the cat through the glass door in the home and she didn't mind her at all. She glanced at the cat for a short time and then walked away to lie down on her couch.
Layla has not been around any children yet, so we will have to update you soon.
Layla is fantastic on the leash! She doesn't pull at all and stays alongside you for the entire walk. We have encountered many squirrels and other small animals and she doesn't even acknowledge them. She is an absolute joy to walk!
Silly | Big Smile
Because she is a little older, Layla is a total couch potato. She likes to go on walks, but she loves snuggling on the couch even more. She loves her foster parents and quietly follows them everywhere. She is not needy, but she definitely prefers to be participating in all the fun that her foster family is having. Layla sleeps in her crate at night and does very well, although she would much prefer to sleep with her people.
Irresistible!
Training: Layla is crate trained and housebroken and she has very good manners. Her previous owners gave her commands in sign language, so we are currently learning how to respond to verbal commands as well.
Precious Momma | Layla and Ellie
Personality: Layla is a calm, cuddly, easy dog. She does not get overly excited or rambunctious. She really is a couch potato that prefers to be around her people. Although she has not been introduced to her fellow foster siblings, with proper supervision, she would probably be ok with another calm, low energy male dog. She also seems to have a low prey drive and would likely be indifferent to cats.
Sweetheart
Best Attribute: Layla's best attribute is her loving personality. She gives lots of gentle kisses and loves to snuggle with her people. Her foster dad has nicknamed her "hompy" because she makes really cute chomping noises when she get excited. She would love to go to a home where people would pay attention to her and and give her lots of love.
