Lotus |
A symbol for awakening to the spiritual reality of life. Lotus flower are also symbolic for people who have gone through a hard time and are now coming out of it. The lotus starts in the muddy, dirty bottom of the pond but rises above to display an object of beauty. For many, a lotus represents a hard time in life that has been overcome. |

From Lotus' foster parents: We were walking our dog around our neighborhood and we saw Lotus aimlessly walking in the street and into oncoming traffic. We called her and she responded and then she followed us home. She didn’t have tags or even a collar. We could see that she wasn’t spayed and that she recently had puppies.
We took her to the vet to see if she was chipped and they said that she wasn’t. It seemed there was no way to find her home.

Foster Situation: We have one dog and despite the constant competition they both seem to be in for our attention, they get along very well. Lotus hasn’t showed one sign of aggression towards our other dog since we have had her. She has been around many new dogs and people and has gotten along with them all. [Note from MPR: Please read the Breed-Info to learn more about the breed]
We have a fenced back yard in which they love to chase each other around and say hello to the neighbor’s dog. She loves to get out of the house and go on car rides and walks around the neighborhood; she is very curious. She seems new to walking with a leash but in the short time that we have had her she has learned a lot and gotten much better. Our small dog sleeps in the bed with us and there was no way to convince Lotus of anything else. There isn’t much leg room but she loves to snuggle. Lotus seems like she could live in any situation as long as her owner has lots of love to give.
Training: We haven’t spent a lot of time training her but she responds to the “sit” command very well. Lotus is a fast learner and has picked a few things up from our dog. She sits and waits for dinner until we give her the “okay” command and she loves to play hide and go seek. Lotus is house trained and is getting use to being crated.
Personality: Lotus is one of the gentlest dogs that we have met. She does not have a mean bone in her body. We watched her as a fly buzzed around her face and she never once bit at it; she just watched it with wonder. She is also very curious; she spends a lot of time looking out of the window and she has to explore where ever she goes. She is very quiet and only barks when she wants to come inside from playing in the backyard. She is also very playful and likes running, wrestling and playing hide and seek.
Best Attribute: Lotus is a beautiful blue color and she has a defining gray circle on the top of her head. She is an all around beautiful dog. We cannot take her anywhere without at least one person commenting on how pretty she is. But by far her best feature is her personality which is gentle, loving and accepting.
