| Nelson was brought into a spay and neuter clinic in Kansas City by good Samaritans who found him abandoned in a bad part of town. MPR had volunteers on location and no words could express the shock and dismay they felt when they saw this pathetic little dog, covered in wounds and scars.
MPR immediately secured a temporary foster home for this precious soul and Nelson is now gratefully recuperating in the safety of a loving home. Quite a difference for this courageous little warrior who survived the cruelty of dog fighting war.
We are currently assessing the extent of Nelson's injuries and raising money for his care. If you would like to help us turn Nelson's life around and transform this little war survivor into a real prince charming, please donate generously.
He now has something to smile about!

UPDATE from previous foster mom: Nelson saw the vet on Saturday and she took new xrays. He has little chips of bone floating around the area that's all swollen on his ankle. Since there are a few deep puncture wounds there, we are assuming that when another dog attacked him and bit his leg that dogs tooth went clear in and nicked his bones. There were no other injuries though so he should make a full recovery. We are now putting a pressure wrap on his swollen ankle and that seems to be helping him as he started walking on it yesterday for the first time! The vet also said she thinks he'll need to be on antibiotics for the next 3 weeks to fight off his infection.
Nelson has settled into our home quite well. He has not had any accidents in his crate or in the house. He is quiet in his crate and does not tear up his blankets. We are going to go get him a nice cushy bed for his crate. He is coming out of his shell more and more and continues to be extremely sweet and overall well behaved.
