Veronique,

It has been over two weeks since we got Patch and I just wanted to update you on how he is doing. WE LOVE HIM!!!! He is the best friend we could have asked for. So smart. He has adjusted very well and seems to be very happy and of course, spoiled rotten. He has his first vet visit on Tuesday. I don't know if he already was trained for this or not, but he shakes, lays down and rolls over. He really learns very fast. I bought him a cushion for the crate and he loves it. His skin seems to be clearing up and hopefully the vet will agree that it was stress-related. He loves the yard and going for his walks at night.

As for the cat, he hasn't adjusted to Patch as yet. The cat has roam of the house while Patch is kenneled and is contained while Patch is out. But it doesn't seem that either one has suffered from lack of attention.

My mom is in a nursing home and our next step is to take Patch over to visit. I think all the residents will love him, just as we do.

Can't say enough great things about him. He is my shadow and follows me everywhere. It is taking him a little longer to warm up to my husband and basically, men in general. I don't know if there is some basis for this or not, but we are thrilled to have him as part of our family.

Will keep you posted as to his progress.

Hope things are going well for you and the organization.

Elaine

Update: April 19, 2006

Just wanted to update you guys on Patch. He is doing great. As you can tell by the photos he is quite comfortable and has picked the couch as his favorite place but will not get up there unless invited to do so. Of course, he does use the pillow.

He has learned quite a few tricks and loves to entertain everybody with them.

I have been taking him for long walks at our conservation park. He loves to go up and down the hills, cross streams and sniff out bunnies and other critters.

He weighs about 95 pounds now, mostly muscle, okay, some fat. He is very protective of my husband and myself as if we were part of his pack. I know you took a risk allowing us to adopt when we live further away, but thank you for doing so, he is our best friend !!!!!

Nice sit | Good Patch

This poor boy was bailed out of death row 2 years ago and adopted through MPR. He's lived the good life with his adoptive family for two years but sadly has found his way back to us due to breed specific legislation where his family resides. Poor Patch is once again looking for a home where he will hopefully this time, be loved for the rest of his life.

We're getting re-aquainted now and will update his page as we, once again, get to know him better.

"A treat for me?" | "More treats for me ..?"

Patch is 2 years old. Quite big (80 Lbs), and has lived with cats since he was a pup and is very good with them. He is also good with dogs when introduced properly. Patch is well behaved, housetrained, very affectionate but a little reserved with strangers. He is probably an American Bulldog/Pit Bull mix.

More to follow soon so please check back!
