Pistachio was rescued from a local shelter in 2010. He was just a few weeks old and placed in foster care in a home with three young children including a toddler, an adult dog and a cat. He received lots of socialization which gave him a great start at life.

Pistachio was then adopted to a family with a young baby.

Foster Situation: Happy-go-lucky boy is now being fostered in a home with a female pit bull named Lilly. Stash is very submissive yet he is also playful, and shows no signs of aggression. Stash and Lilly have been introduced, and seem to enjoy each other's company. Lilly has allowed Stash to curl up in bed with the two of us in the morning when it is their nap time. However, Stash still sleeps either in his crate at night or on a small couch in our office. They like to nap on the floor next to one another, and have recently gotten to experience playing outdoors together. Stash and Lilly have been introduced, and seem to enjoy each other's company. Pistachio has a fun-loving personality and happy spirit. He's loves to be a goofball and make people laugh. He is playful, yet laid back and easy-going.

Stash is one of the best dogs to have ride shot gun. He sits sideways facing me and watches me while I drive. He has yet to attempt to cross over the center consol and into my lap. I do not think he likes the backseat because he cannot see me as well and does not have great access to the cool air conditioner.

Training: Stashio is housebroken and crate trained. Stash is a quick learner and is eager to please. He knows how to sit and lay down without being bribed by a treat. He will sit before he is fed, and waits patiently when he is either let out or back in the house. Lucky for us, Stash has had no accidents in the house or in his crate. Stash is okay on a leash; he does like to pull but I think this can be corrected with taking him on more walks when he is healed. I also think he could benefit from a Weiss Walkie leash.

Personality: Pistachio's personality tends to change throughout the day. In the morning, he is very mellow. It takes him a while to get moving to go outside. I love going into Stash's room to wake him up; he is probably one of the cutest dogs in the morning. After his morning potty, he either likes to cuddle in bed or take a nap on the couch. Most of the time, Stash is pretty calm, but for some reason he gets a bit rambunctious in the early evening. We think this is because we are not able to take him on long walks, runs, or chase him in the backyard because of his knees. Pistachio is quite large and has an impressive looks. He is friendly with people but his appearance along makes him a good deterrent. Once you know him though, you quickly realize what a happy goofball he is. He still has a puppy personality and seems very adaptable. We think this beautiful brindle boy is quite the catch.... :-)

Best Attribute: Stash is the epitome of a happy-go-lucky goofball. He is a big, dopey boy who does not have a mean bone in his body. He loves to play with anyone or anything, but can also be a cuddly couch potato or bed snuggler. I love the different seating positions he comes up with, none ever look the way a dog should be sitting. After having him here I can tell that all he wants is to make people happy and receive the love he so desperately deserves!

PISTACHIO HAS LUXATING PATELLA...!! Please help give Pistachio a better quality of life. He has so much love to give. Pistachio was recently diagnosed with luxating patella in both knees... We are devastated but don't want to give up on this sweet boy. The surgery to repair is knees is very expensive but we hope to raise the money so Stashio doesn't have to suffer anymore. Poor boy needs all the help he can get..... Please help us help him... We know we ask a lot and often.... We wish we could go at least a month without begging...
