Looks like we were due for one of those hard-luck cases that fall on us when we least expect it. We had no room for a new dog in the program but after hearing Praline's story, we just couldn't say no. This poor girl had been living in an abandoned house for TWO years. The neighbors had been feeding and watering her occasionally. The rest of the time she was left to fend for herself and try to survive on her own.
Until the day of her rescue, the poor dog had never known anything good in her life.... Yet, she came to us with hope in her eyes and a smile in her face.
Sweet Eyes | Loving Praline | Chilling on the couch | With a toy
She's amazing indeed! And so incredibly grateful...
Praline is friendly with people, though you can tell she is not used to having so much attention. When she trusts you, she will try to climb on your lap for some loving. She must be so relieved to be surrounded by caring people.
Praline doesn't seem very fond of other dogs or cats... She is very sweet with people though, seems to love kids and isn't too hard to handle. She will make someone a great pet.

Foster Situation: Praline has been moved to a loving and comforting foster home. She's friendly and outgoing... and eager to make friends. We can't believe she lived alone in a vacant yard for so long..... She looooves people..... This sweetheart so deserved to know what the good life was all about. Thank you to the Baker family for opening their hearts and home so Praline has the chance to blossom into the Cinderella she was born to be.
Praline's foster home can't say enough good things about her. We are all amazed to see how well she has adapted to home life. She totally gets it and shows her gratitude by being a very well behaved and easy companion.
ZZZZZzzzzzzzz......... | Adorable | Good Girl
Her foster dad says that she is awesome in her crate and goes in by herself to relax and chill. She is very responsive and he only needs to point to her bed for her to go lay down. She is loving and always happy to see people.

| After months of unsuccessful treatments for recurring dermatitis and many tests, poor Praline has finally been diagnosed with canine MRSA. We believe she was contaminated long time ago, when living in the basement of an abandoned house in Kansas City. MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. |

Most staph infections can be treated with commonly used antibiotics but MRSA infections are resistant to many antibiotics. The mainstay of treatment is an antimicrobial drugs to control the infection. Deep infections may require 6-8 weeks of treatment or longer.
Good news: Praline has wonderful foster parents that are completely committed to keeping her as long as it takes to treat her condition and until she has found a great home.
Bad News: MRSA treatment is very expensive and MPR must once again ask our supporters for help.... Between the all the tests, special creams, ointments, antibiotics and numerous trips to the specialist, MPR is estimating Praline's treatment at about $1000.00.
We have come too far to give up on this sweetheart now. Please help us save Praline.... |
