This blue beauty was pulled from "deathrow" on her last day. Rhapsody was confiscated by animal control because she wasn't spayed. The law in Kansas City requires that all Pit Bull dogs be spayed or neutered. Considering the terrible overpopulation problem with the breed, no one should have an intact Pit Bull anyway. There are several organizations in the region that can perform the surgery for next to nothing.

Rhapsody's previous owner obviously didn't care enough and decided to leave her at the shelter to be euthanised instead of claiming her. MPR stepped in and this very sweet girl is now safe in our program.

Rhapsody is currently underweight and needs to gain at least 10 lbs. She is naturally rather "petite" though, about 45 Lbs, well proportioned and as you can see, she has the prettiest face. She's a very pretty dog and we hope someone will soon offer to adopt her so we can help another dog in need.

    RHAPSODY

Rhapsody tested positive to heart worm disease and has began treatment in February. The prognostic is good and she should be back on her feet by spring.

    Rhapsody is heartworm positive...!!

Please help give Rhapsody a healthy heart. She has so much love to give.

Rhapsody tested positive to heartworm disease. MPR needs all the help we can get for her treatment. It will cost about about $200.00 to treat but the prognostic is good. Rhapsody should be out of the woods 6 weeks after the treatment. Once again, MPR is asking for assistance so we can help this precious soul.

We know we ask a lot and often.... We wish we could go at least a month without begging... But those sad cases just keep coming... One after another one... Endlessly.... We can't do it without your help....

Foster Situation: Rhapsody is being fostered with cats, dogs, ferrets, a snake, a sugar glider, 2 young kids and 2 adults! She's very interested in the cats but learning to ignore them. It is possible that in time she will be fine with cats but for now we think a home without cats would be best.

Rhapsody however, is VERY good with my children! She knows just how to interact with them. Sometimes she gets a little excited but as soon as you remind her, she's at her place again..

Rhapsody also does very well with my dogs, both Pit Bulls. They can get to playing a little rough but I nip it in the bud quick. We think Rhapsody would do well in a home with a friendly male.

Rhapsody amazes me more everyday. She adapts to anything I throw at her. She walks great on a leash to go potty but we let her use the fenced in backyard. She does good out back, doesn't try to jump the fence or nothing. I think she used to live indoors because she would rather be inside than outside.

At night she sleeps in her crate with her fluffy blanket and toys with no problems. I think a home with kids were she can get lots of love (because she is a BIG lover) would be ideal for her.

So pretty | The sweetest eyes | Loving Rhapsody | Irresistible

Training: She is a very good house dog. We have had no messes in the house, so I think she is pretty much housebroken but we do keep a close eye on her. She is crate trained. We are working on basic training like, sit, lay down, stay etc. She is VERY smart. She picks up on things very quickly. I would have to say she is very responsive, very eager to please and very much of a lover.

Radar Love | Beautiful Coat | Kissable Face | Simply Shimmering

Personality: Rhapsody has a normal energy level. She is a playful dog, a life lover and very outgoing. When I let her outside, she just jumps around for awhile before she chills out to go potty. She is a little attention needy. She wants to be right next to you and soak up as much love as she can. She is an attentive and very happy-go-lucky dog.

So Sweet | Cute Girl | Too cute | How could you resist that face? | Pretty Rhapsody

Best Attribute: I would have to say that Rhapsody's best attribute would have to be her... ears! Lol! Who wouldn't want her for those ears?! Although that is MY favorite part, I think that somebody would want to adopt her because of her love for life, her playful nature, and eagerness to be with humans and to make them happy. Best said; her unconditional love for everyone and everything!

    July 8, 2009 Update:

We've had Rhapsody in Blue (now called Pickle) for about 10 weeks. She is just the most amazing dog. So willing to please. So willing to learn. She settled into family life instantly.

My wife and I have lost count how many people compliment us on how pretty she is, how lovely she is with people, and how she walks so well on the leash, and sits at every curb when we cross the street. We are just so proud to have her in our family.

One of Pickle's favorite things is to jump in the pool after her early morning walk. But her most favorite thing of all is to snuggle with us.
