Pretty Girl | Happy Girl

Serenity is a sweet cuddly girl who we pulled from death row at the local shelter overcrowded with pit bulls.

Please consider giving this sweet girl the forever home that seems obvious she‘s never had and she will give back ten-fold!

Precious Girl | Beautiful!

Story: Serenity was pulled from death row. She was a bit scarred up and had quite a few scabs/sores, but is healing nicely under the loving care of her foster home. In the short time she's been with her foster family she's turning into quite a beauty!

Here We Go ... | A Wiggling... | A Waggling... | Having So Much Fun!

Foster Situation: We have one other dog, which we have not yet introduced them yet. She is great with our daughter, and everyone she has been around. We live in town, with large fenced yard, although the fence is short right now. She hasn't tried to jump yet, and hopefully will have no interest in even trying. She does great in the car, but has not yet had much time with the leash. She sleeps in the crate in our bedroom. Really, we are not sure yet about an ideal living situation, need to feel her out a bit more.

Sweet Face | Lovely Lady | Resting

Training: She is housebroken for the most part, crate trained with no problem, learning pretty well to sit and stay, AND is also learning to dance. She is extremely responsive, although having a little trouble learning her name. And oh is she happy to please!

Personality: Silly, outgoing, can be rambunctious at times, loves kids and everyone else she meets, would say in the middle between dominant and submissive, haven't introduced her to Dawson yet. They have seen each other while she has been in the crate, and through the window, at times she's so happy to see him and waggling her whole body, other times she barks and growls. Can we say mixed signals? =) She's pretty energetic, would say she has a pretty strong prey drive, as she ran into the fence head first chasing a rabbit last night. But it didn't seem to bother her. One of her absolute favorite past times is cuddling. If you sit, she's on your lap instantly.

Profile | A Bit Sleepy ...

Best Attribute: Probably her love to cuddle, (she give "pittie hugs" where she puts her head down and gently pushes it against you until you wrap your arms around her). Or maybe how everything you do (even something as simple as walking into the room, or giving her food) makes her so happy that her whole body waggles.

Please Love Me... | Pretty Please...

Update - May 3, 2007:

We introduced Serenity and our dog Dawson on Tuesday. There was no dog aggression shown by either one of them. They are inseparable! They were both outside playing and came in COVERED in mud, so she got her first bath. She wasn't happy but sat through it with no fuss. She sits by both voice command and hand motion, we are working on "lay down." She weighs 50 pounds now, which I believe the doctor said was about right size for her.

UPDATE: 5/4/2008 - Serenity passed her CGC test today!!

I am just so proud to announce that after a 6 week training preparation class, Serenity has passed the Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) test awarded by the American Kennel Club! Together, she and I attended weekly classes for her to gain social & basic obedience skills. The training didn’t only teach my Pit Bull, but also gave me skills to apply to the rest of my pack and to any Foster Pitties that may come into my home.

I would absolutely advise the owner of any breed dog to enroll in a local training class and find a CGC testing site near you. To be given a chance to develop an even stronger bond with my dog during these classes, is time I would not trade for anything!

Serenity came from death row, to be given another chance at a better life thanks to Missouri Pit Bull Rescue (MPR). In September 07’ we adopted her and she has become a very important member of our family!

Thank you to MPR!!!

Started in 1989, CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs.

MPR is proud to congratulate Serenity and her family for acheiving this award and for being great breed ambasadors.
