Story: Just before Thanksgiving, MPR received the plea below:
"Dear MPR, Boy does this lovely dog need help -- and so do I.... I found her and her 7 pups under a culver this morning. I live about 7 miles south of Warrensburg in a rural area.
The mom is starved down but has given it all to the fat, healthy babies. Although frightened and protective of her babies, she appears to be responsive and friendly. She has old collar scars on her neck but no collar now, no tags.
I am NOT the household for her (4 aged cats) but could not leave her to die. Can you PLEASE HELP ASAP!. I don't want to take her and her desperate family to the local animal pound."
This post came in just as the weather dropped in November - Down to 20 degrees at night... As always full but eager to help, MPR once again made a miracle happen and managed to find an emergency foster home for the whole little gang. On Thanksgiving day, a very dedicated volunteer drove several hours to pick up the little gang and bring them to safety. They will never spend a night in the cold again.
Pups and mom are now recuperating from their ordeal in a loving foster home. We will send updates and additional info ASAP.
Mom is beautiful blue girl with cropped ears. She's in bad shape now but we are confident she will soon blossom into a real Cinderella. Our volunteer said that she is incredibly sweet and loving. Obviously very relieved to be helped, she cuddled in the volunteer's arms as they drove to their new destination. Mom is emaciated and her coat is in poor condition due to malnutrition but otherwise she is healthy. She gave everything she had to her puppies who are plump and healthy.

Pups are 4 weeks old and should be available for adoption right before Christmas. 6 girls, one boy! Please fill out APPLICATION if interested to adopt or to foster. Financial assistance will be greatly appreciated as well.

Financial Assistance: MPR would like to thank the kind lady who found the dogs and contacted us. In addition to caring for the dogs until we could take them, she took them to the vet and donated a generous amount to MPR to assist with their care.
UPDATE: December 6th: Mom has won the heart of her foster parents and they have decided they could never let her go. This precious soul will never be homeless (and pregnant) again!
UPDATE: December 8th: Puppies will be ready to go home the week of the 22nd. We have received a few applications already and are currently screening.
UPDATE: December 18th: Puppies will be ready to go to new homes this coming week. We have updated photos ... so cute!!! We are taking applications and are currently screening potential homes so hurry and don't be left out in the cold. These babies will be going fast.

UPDATE: December 21th: Puppies are ready! They have been transferred to foster care and are thriving. Some are fostered in home with kids, other dogs, cats.. Everyone is getting a lot of socialization. Apply Now!
