    Precious Boy

Tobias is a little thin right now and has a little more growing to do. He got along great with Cinders but he seems a little more people-oriented than into other dogs. He is needy and loves to follow you around. He's a leaner and a cuddler. Very super sweet :-)

    Handsome

Foster Situation: A foster puppy named Cinders was in the home for a few days and they got a long and played but needed to have supervision. There are no kids or other pets in the home. There is no fenced yard so when Tobias is outside he is supervised and on a leash. The home is in a rural neighborhood of Kansas City with alot of walkers, bicyclist, joggers, and dog walkers. Tobias will watch joggers and bicyclist but there is no growl, bark, or lunge at them and we will continue to test him on this and correct him. He is excellent on a leash and will go as slow or as fast as you want to walk, jog or run while maintaing the Heel. We require him to sit at intersections and when we stop and he is doing this 75% of the time on his own and I expect that the more walks with him he will eventually do this without any command from us. He knows that when he hears the command "Hurry" he is supposed to relieve himself which is handy during a rainy day. In the car Tobias is great by either sitting looking out the window or laying down sleeping. Very easy going loving dog. Tobias loves to be scratched, rubbed, cuddled and petted and if you are not careful he will sneak a kiss.

Training: Tobias is a very trainable dog and eager for the challenge. He is housebroken and crate trained. For example when entering the crate give the command to sit before entry, then give the command to "Kennel" he enters the kennel. Once in the kennel command him to sit so you can close the kennel door without any interference. When you want to remove Tobias from his kennel give him the command to sit and stay and he will allow you to open the kennel and place the lead on him and he will wait until you invite him out. This is the same routine going in and out from the house as well. Tobias going up and down stairs will heel at your pace which is very nice if you have a lot of steps or encounter steps on your walks. Tobias will even allow you to eat a meal in peace by allowing you to place him in the room where you want him so you will not have a dog under your table or beging for food. We have him placed in view of the table but 20 feet from us and he either watches us eat or lays there and minds his own business and does not move. Tobias still has some puppy habits and can get excited easily but with a quick command he is back to the calm and submissive lover boy. Tobias is learning quickly and with training could learn any trick you would like for him to do. We will continue to work and trian him until a permant home is found.

Personality: Tobias is outgoing always looking for someone to cuddle and scratch. He loves to follow you around and be your companion. Tobias would be great to take on car rides and trips and is well balanced and behaved. Tobias is very playful and has a want to please personality that loves attention. Tobias does have a low to moderate prey drive which was noticed with flies, joggers, and bicyclist which is currently mangagable and will be worked on to try and minimize or correct.

I'll Steal Your Heart! | Sweetheart

Best Attribute: You can not help yourself but fall in love with Tobias when you meet him and spend some time getting to know him. He is so giving and pleasing that you hate to treat him like a dog. His tail is always wagging and he is always looking to give you a kiss especially if you and him are being buddies. After a walk it is great to hang out and just let Tobias relax outside and roll in the grass or chew on a bone. Tobias was on the deck just hanging out laying next to the chair letting us pet him and scratch him. The whole time we thought he was awake because every now and then his tail would wag then we heard him snoring like a baby. Another funny incident was when I came home for lunch and let him out to do his duty and I sat on the front step and he laid next to me in the grass. Tobias rolled onto his back with his legs in the air and his head stretched out and I started scratch his tummy he feel asleep again. When it was time to go back inside I woke Tobias up and he looked like he had just woke up from the deepest nap and could hardly open his eyes or wake up. One day I was playing fetch with two tennis balls and I had him getting the ball and bringing it back to me wanting to fetch the next one non stop. I moved to the stairs where he had to run down then up the stairs and he loved it and I think he would have played that game all night no matter how tired he had gotten. When we stopped his tail was waggin and his tongue was giving kisses. Have you ever given a dog a treat and they snatch it from your fingers nipping you in the finger. Well command Tobias to not take the treat until you tell him and then he takes it with just his lips very gently and no teeth. I was walking him and wanted to climb up several large rocks and see how he would do it and you would of thought the dog had just had the greatest experience of its life because he was so happy to climb up and jump off these rocks that he did it on command several times without me climbing with him. This will be the best dog you ever have as a companion! More stories to come.
