    UPDATE - March 1, 2010

I would like to thank mpr for allowing me to adopt Twilight. I could have not ask for a better Pit.

    Terry

    Kissable Face

Twilight was taken to the shelter by animal control due to abuse and neglect. We were told the dog took daily beatings. It appears that Twilight was also kept in a filthy location also, and not let out.

    Good Boy

Twilight quickly became a favorite at the shelter due to his very loving personality and charming ways.

All of Twilight's bad days are nothing but a distant memory now thanks to MPR and a caring foster home, he's finally given a chance to live the good life!

Twilight when he first arrived to MPR
A special thank you to James F. Vordtriede and Joanne Montagna for their generous donation to cover Twilight's Heartworm treatment. He will be undergoing his treatment just as soon as he gets healthy enough to withstand it.

Foster Situation: Twilight seems to be quite happy in his temporary foster home. He can't stay there much longer though, because of too many pets in home already. He needs a new foster home as soon as possible.

Handsome Boy | "I want to see" | Relaxing | Kiss-a-bull Face | Camera Shy???

Twilight is very good in his crate and seems to greatly appreciate his soft, cushy blankets and constant supply of food and fresh water (he loves his water). Although Twilight came to us pretty hungry, he is very good about letting his foster mom put her hands in and around is food bowl while he is eating and hasn't shown any negative signs while in his crate with other animals around. He has taken his ordeal in stride, like a true bully would.

What's that I smell? | Someone say BBQ? | Smells Good! | You are sharing, right? | Hey, Don't forget me!

Twilight is sharing his temporary living quarters with 3 other dogs and a cat. He is interested in the cat but has not acted negative towards it, although I wouldn't advise letting him get too close yet; He is still trying to figure them out.

He does really well with the dogs in the house (all females) through baby gates and really seems to respect the barriers put forth (baby gates), even licking one of my dogs in the face through the gate. We do think that he would do well in a house with a friendly female companion. Although there are no children at Twilight's place right now, we feel that he would do great in a home with kids. His foster mom says that he does good with all the neighbors (adults and kids alike) that have pet him and hung out with him.

Adora-bull | Looking So Much Better!

Training: Twilight is extremely dedicated to pleasing his person! Due to his desire to please, he is very easy to train. Twilight knows how to sit and is getting better about doing it on the 1st or 2nd time you tell him to. He is also doing really good with his potty training; there has only been one accident in the house. The foster mom says it was her fault since she left food in his crate over night and he couldn't hold it till morning.

    Sleeping | Simply Irresistible!

He is also getting really good on the leash when on walks. There has been no need to use any special kind of collar or leash with Twilight while on walks. Since he does want you to be happy with him he is very easy to correct and get back on track. There is no need to tug at the leash and let him drag you, one quick tap on the leash when the leash runs out of slack and he looks back at you as if to say "Sorry, I forgot". He also responds very well to a water bottle when he needs correction, so there is no need to yell at him or be overly dominating; one quick squirt and he is paying attention.

    Precious | So Charming

When his temporary roomies are playing around he gets a little whiny in his crate because he wants to join in. He responds when told to hush. There really is no need to be harsh with him since it takes so little to get him to do what you want.

    TWILIGHT is heartworm positive...!!

Twilight tested positive to heartworm disease. MPR needs all the help we can get for his treatment. It will cost about about $250.00 to treat him but the prognostic is good. Twilight should be out of the woods 6 weeks after the treatment.

UPDATE June 2009: Thanks to very generous donations, Twilight will receive his heartworm treatment as soon as he has gained enough weight and is healthy enough. We will post updates.

    Irresistible | Handsome Boy

Personality: Twilight is a pleaser! It's as if he is always thinking about what he can do to make you love him more. He loves to hang out and do whatever it is that you want to do. If you want to walk, so does he; if you want to watch t.v., he's right there with you. One of Mr. T's favorite things is riding in the car - If you get him close to an open car door he will probably jump in expecting to go somewhere. When in the car, he rides wonderfully. Most of the time he stays in the passenger seat but from time to time he lays his head in your lap as you drive. We can completely see him on a family camping trip. Right now he is very interested in discovering the world, so he will take any opportunity he can to get a taste of it, even if it is just a car ride.

    Profile | Gorgeous Fellow

Best Attribute: Mr. T's best quality... it's hard to pick just one thing since all of his attributes work together in such a well blended way, making him an all around awsome dog. His tremendous willingness to please, his charm, the desire to discover new things, and just how blatantly handsome he is makes him a "one of a kind".
