Sweet Face

Meet our sweet little Windchill, who managed to survive freezing cold temperature this winter (with a windchill factor below zero) without any shelter, food or water, until faith could bring her to rescue.

Story: Windchill has a lucky star.... She was found by a few kids who happened to brave the cold that day and wandered off a little farther than usual in the woods behind their house. Windchill had most likely been abandoned in those woods with another dog. Both of them were freezing and starving and about to give up hope.

Cold | Wet | Snow | Freezing Temps

Can you imagine how painfully cold it must feel like when you are starving and don't have any fat on your body to protect you? This is what poor little Windchill was going through. We don't know how much longer she would have survived, had she not been found in time.

Day of rescue

The other dog who was with her is not a Pit Bull and he has been accepted into another program for all breed pets. As for Windchill, she will never miss a meal again and never, ever, spend a night freezing to death out in the cold.

Life has definitely changed for this sweetheart. She now has a chance to be happy.

We will update Windchill's bio as soon as we have more info. We will have new pictures too. We can tell you right now, that Windchill is on the small size but she needs to gain weight. She was with another dog when found so we believe she would do well with a friendly male. She is a friendly girl who seems very comfortable with people, not shy at all, and appears very well behaved.

Foster Situation: *** FOSTER HOME NEEDED *** Windchill is having a hard time adapting to kennel life and she is in DIRE need of a foster home as soon as possible. She missed her chance at one recently because we found out she doesn't do well with cats. So she is still waiting and kennel life is taking its toll on her. Please give her a chance to show you how deserving she is. For more info about our foster program please go to: Volunteer and foster.

UPDATE March 08: Due to Windchill's difficulties at the boarding facility, she has been moved to a "temporary" foster home. She cant stay there more than a few days however, because her foster family is over pet limit in their municipality. What follows is an update from her temporary foster mom.

Windchill currently lives with several other dogs. She is very docile and seems uninterested in them, and she would much rather be on my lap! She did meet one of our males who looks like a huge version of her, and they kissed a few times.

There are also several stray cats in the area, and she doesn't seem to care about them. She does very well on a leash, and isn't a high energy dog. She is content laying in the sun and enjoying life.

Windchill has obviously had a tough life, and is shy around men. She follows me around constantly though. We have a big fenced yard, and she goes outside when she has to potty but stays pretty close to the house. She seems to enjoy riding in the car, and is a very mild-mannered dog. We don't even notice that she is here most of the time! She sleeps in her crate at night and loooves the fluffiest comforters and the softest pillows! Windchill is definitely enjoying the "good life", which she is probably experiencing for the first time of her life. She is very appreciative.

We believe this sweetheart would do well in any living situation. She might be able to share her home with a friendly male dog or would love to get all the attention for herself as the only pet.

UPDATE April 02: Windchill has a foster home now. We'll update her information once she's had time to settle and her foster home gets to know her better. Check back soon.

Training: Windchill's foster home plans on working on training soon. Windy already knows sit, stay, come here, and let's go. She sits for her food and treats, and does very well. She is eager to please.

Luvin Bellyrubs! | More Please ...

Personality: Windchill is somewhat shy at first, but quickly warms up. She likes to cuddle on the couch (we don't mind because she is so small!). She is very calm around kids and visitors, and will go to a blanket and lay down unless she is invited to join the company. She likes watching the birds and she met a little girl that was walking by today. She gave her hand a kiss and let the little girl pet her, then rolled on her back in submission. She seems to really like being around kids. Maybe she remembers she owes her life to them...

Tiny Girl

Best Attribute: Windchill is so happy to just be alive and enjoys the small things, like laying in the sun, or being pet. She looks at you with adoration and you can't help but fall in love with her!

Will you love me?
