COURTESY LISTING

Sweetheart

An older man brought Zyclone in to the local animal shelter as a stray. He lives out by a lake and says his place is a common dumping ground. It is really hard to believe that someone dumped this puppy. He is already crate trained and knows how to sit. He was found in Franklin County, Kansas. He was is good condition when he came in. He was a great body weight. He did have some scratches around his neck and chest and was itching a lot. He was treated for fleas when he came in to the shelter.

Foster Situation: Zyclone is fostered in a home with an 8 yr old female boxer/lab. Zyclone and our dog love to play. They have their "WWF" wrestling match about every night. Foster parents just sit on the couch and get some good entertainment out of them. We do not have any cats; however, we do have 3 chickens and he is NOT good with them. He does have a strong prey drive for them. Zyclone lives with a 2½ yr old little girl and does great with her. She even gives him hugs night night before she goes to bed. She will play fetch with him also. We do have a fenced in yard, 4 ft high chain link. Zyclone loves to play a lot out in the yard, running in circles. We call him a little spaz at times. It just makes us laugh. He does good on a leash and in the car (the few times we've been in the car). He sleeps in a big wire crate at night and when we are gone at work. He has not once made a mess in the crate. He is crate trained and quiet at night.

His foster parents feel the ideal living situation for Zyclone would to be with a family who is going to be active with him. He will need a family who will continue teaching him doggy manners as well since Zyclone thinks he needs to be the boss sometimes. He loves laying on the couch with you but also has plenty of energy during the day. If the family could take him for walks or jogs everyday that would be the best. Zyclone would also benefit from basic obedience classes, as any dog would. I'm not sure if he would be best in a home with cats or not. If the new family does have a cat, this may be something they could work with. I just know Zyclone wants to chase and try to "eat" our chickens. Zyclone will also thank you if his new family would provide some good chew toys. He loves his "mad kitty" stuffed animal (found at Petco) and his hard nyla bone.

Training: We are working on basic training. He knows to sit for a treat and knows to kennel up if you throw a treat in the crate ... he will go right in. Zyclone is 100% crate trained and I'd say 90% house trained. He has only had 3 potty accidents since he's been in his foster home. He will go to the bathroom every time you let him outside. He is responsive, as much as a 5 month old puppy can be.

Personality: Zyclone is a very outgoing boy. Not much bothers him and he is always happy and excited when meeting new people. He can be very silly when he is playing with our other dog. He's good with our 2½ yr old girl and he has also been around 4 yr old girls. He just wanted to run around with them and play. He has a moderate energy level and at times tries to be dominant with our older dog but she puts him in his place and he listens. He seems to be courageous. He is very playful but at this moment he is laying on our couch, head hanging down, sleeping and having doggy dreams. Funny boy.

Best Attribute: Zyclone's best trait would have to be how outgoing he is.  He responds good to our 2½ yr old girl.  He has the most lovable personality and his funny little circle runs out in the yard will entertain you for sure.  He also has the perfect marking of black and white. He is going to make some family a WONDERFUL companion!
