INSURANCE RESOURCES  

Finding insurance with a pit bull in the home is definitely a challenge, but it is obtainable.

Be sure that you try both a local agent and the main companies directly. Sometimes local agents will set their own restrictions even if they are not required by the head office.

You can also check with an insurance agent who deals with various companies. Perhaps they will be able to find someone that does not have breed restrictions.

You may also want to call your state's Insurance Commission for referrals to companies without restrictions.

If, because of your dog, you applied for insurance and were denied it, or if your insurance was canceled, the Humane Society of the United States wants to know. The HSUS is trying to determine the extent of this problem, and how to solve it. Download their report form and send it to them.

Sunny SoCal Insurance Service (nationwide)

Nationwide - Will insure pitbulls if they have passed the Canine Good Citizen program.

 

Lester Kalmanson Agency Inc. - This insurer specializes in animal-related liability policies but is very expensive.
