Special
Plea - MPR needs your help
Recently
MPR has had a string of bad luck with some very wonderful dogs
that we've accepted into our program. It seems that one after
another has had unexpected surgeries, illness, disease, or needed
serious medical treatments. We're doing all we can to help them,
but our little fund just can't keep up. Now we need help to recoup
and continue treating these special dogs. We
need to raise at least $1500.
Below
are the current special cases that are in need of financial help.
Please see below to track the progress as we work towards meeting
our goal! |

First there is
Paddington. Our special boy rescued from a life of abuse were
he was fought. We thought his bad days were over, but Paddy became
very sick and we tried for weeks to find out what was wrong and
how to save him. We nearly lost him a few times. We've just recently
discovered that Paddy has a RARE blood parasite called Babesia
Gibsoni.
Paddington most likely contracted this in
a dog fight ;-(
We
are currently trying to find a vet able to treat him so we can
save his life. We don't have a final prognosis at this point but
are hopeful that Paddy will live. MPR has contacted a specialist
in NC and is talking to vets at local universities.
The treatment for
Babesia Gibsoni is complex and expensive. If you would like to
help Paddington with his medical bill, please contact MPR
or send donations to our PO Box, or through the PayPal link at
the bottom of the page..
UPDATE: Paddington was successfully treated and adopted to a great home :-) |

Next
is Jolly. Miss Jolly hurt herself recently after pulling her spay
stitches out. This is a very rare incident that happens occasionally.
Thankfully, we caught it right away and Jolly was immediately
taken to an emergency vet where her injury was repaired. She had
done quite a big of damage to herself but nothing life threatening
since we caught it right away. She has been transferred to a foster
home and we are keeping an eye on her to make sure it wont happen
again.
If
you would like to help with the cost of her vet bill ($850.00)
please contact MPR
or send donations to our PO Box or through the PayPal link at
the bottom of the page.
UPDATE: Miss Jolly is back on her feet and was adopted by a very nice family. |

Our
newest case, is Heartbreaking Precious. We are currently getting
rid of the parasites that were eating her alive, inside and out.
The hair loss and scabs on her skin are due to a flea allergy
and skin infection. Precious went so long without food that we
are now helping her regain her appetite with tasty food, hand
fed to her several times a day. We gave her a very comfortable
cushion so she can lay on something soft while her muscles redevelop.
Needless to say, she loves the attention.
Precious
needs to be in a foster or permanent home where she is pampered
and can begin to heal. We will do everything we can to keep her
comfortable, but ideally she would be much better off in a home
environment. She has already left her old life behind and dreams
of a happy ending with a wonderful family that will love her like
she deserves to be loved.
UPDATE: A Picture is worth 1000 words.... Precious was adopted! |
We
are extremely grateful for any help you can offer towards the
care and cures of these very special dogs. We certainly wouldn't
be able so save the number of dogs that we have without the support
that all of you have so generously given to us already. Thank
you for helping us make a difference in the lives of these dogs.
