Peaches is adjusting well. She is a terrific dog. We have decided to keep her name, so as to not confuse her. She sleeps next to us on her doggie bed every night and she is always by our side. She loves her toys, but they ususally don't last long. We are now at Petsmart at least once week. The black Kong seems to be the most durable of all the toys. We love her much, we are so glad we decided to adopt instead of buy a pure breed or puppy. Sincerely, Paul and Angie

Peaches' Artwork

It is Peaches' happy and sparkling expression while sitting on deathrow at the shelter that stopped us in our tracks. She was in terrible shape and obviously came from a difficult situation, but her blissful personality shined through the cage. We could not pass her by and Peaches joined MPR group a few days later.

Little did we know that despite that big smile in her face, this happy little dog was actually suffering from a painful injury - We found out that Peaches was most likely hit by a car before finding herself at the shelter. Her pelvis was crushed, causing two fractures. Peaches was probably left to die, but somehow, she not only managed to survive and get back on her feet, but she never lost her smile.

She had a surgery to repair her broken pelvis and she is now back on her feet. A Picture is worth a thousand words...

Peaches Plays | Goofy Girl

Peaches' best feature besides her happy spirit, is how friendly she is... And I stress it. Peaches LOOOOOVES people, kids, adults, men, women, you name it! She is quite the social butterfly and absolutely thrilled beyond words to meet new friends. However, Peaches doesn't care much for other pets. She thinks she has enough love to give anyway and doesn't need to share her home with another 4 legged creature. A good thing about Peaches is that she is very easy to please. She loves to play with toys and is very easily entertained.

Miss Peaches is a sharp little dog and a fast learner. She loves being a house pet and be in the middle of everything with her family. She also loves being a couch potato and to cuddle with her loved ones. She is very affectionate. Peaches is not a fence jumper and she would love a home with a large fenced yard.

Fun Summer days | Relaxing in the sun | Waiting for a home.....

Cute Face | Sweet Peaches | Funny Girl

Peaches is very cute, rather petite and feminine looking. We think she looks adorable, but her best trait is definitely her cheerful and friendly personality. Peaches dances when she's happy. We just love to see that smile in her face and spark in her eyes. Peaches' enthusiasm for life is indeed very contagious. She's a real moral booster! Nothing beats coming home to a "Peaches & Cream" after a hard day at work.

We cant wait until Peaches finds what she so much deserves. She's been waiting so long.... She wont be hard to please, we promise.

UPDATE JULY: Peaches has been waiting for a year and a half. We just don't understand why.... She is one of the friendliest dog we have in our program and she has been such a great sport about her situation. Peaches was transferred to a foster home last winter when she had her surgery. She was in heaven and enjoyed being in a home very much. Her foster parents said that she was the perfect little guest, very sweet, housebroken, crate trained and no trouble at all. In fact they said of Peaches "she is a delight". She stayed with them for several months and thought she had it made....

Unfortunately, she lost her foster home in a divorce this summer, and is now back at the kennel.... We thought this was going to break her spirit but Peaches is a trouper! She is trying very hard to be strong about her ordeal but we can tell that kennel life is wearing on her. She lights up every time someone spends a little bit of time with her and it is very obvious that she misses being in a home. She needs to get out of the kennel ASAP. Peaches can't spend the rest of her life without a family - She is too much people-dog for that. She is wasting away in a kennel and this is breaking our heart. Wont someone see the love in her eyes?

Peaches' dismay is that she is a Pit Bull mix. Those poor dogs have the world against them. They are not enough "Pit Bull" for someone wanting to adopt a Pit, but too much Pit Bull for someone interested in a mix breed. At the end no one wants those poor dogs and finding a home willing to give them a chance is extremely difficult. Now try to explain this to Peaches...

The end of the summer is approaching and with it the end of adoption season. Things will be very slow this winter and only the most perfect dogs will find a home. This will be very difficult for a little Pit Bull mix like Peaches. We don't want to see her spend the rest of her life in a kennel though, and are now considering giving her a deadline. None of us want to see Peaches be euthanized though, as she is such a wonderfully little dog. We really hope with all our heart that someone will finally see the beauty in her heart and give Peaches the home she so much deserves.

"Please, pretty please..... open your heart to me..."
