Smooch is not a Pit Bull, but he suffered the same injustice. Although he is clearly an American Bulldog, he was doomed unadoptable at the shelter, despite being a very nice and friendly boy. In fact, it seems like a whole yard of American Bulldogs must have been seized that week, as there was several of them at the shelter - All of them mistakenly marked as "Pit Bull". Once again, MPR decided to welcome a Bully cousin in our program, and Smooch was the lucky one. With a face like that, how could we leave him behind?

Smooch was a neglected outdoor dog, and he needs socialization, training, patience, and lots of love. He is very sweet and friendly though, and has made great progress since his rescue. He is trying hard to soak up all this new stuff, and we think it's just a matter of time until Smooch's behavior is back to normal. He is not mature yet, but still very puppyish and silly. He has some growing up to do, physically and mentally. Like all American Bulldogs, Smooch should mature into a loyal family companion and guardian. Smooch is currently kenneled in a boarding facility and is adapting very well. In fact, we think he has a much better life now than before, so he is quite happy. This friendly boy wont be hard to please.... His feet are getting sore because of the wet cement, so we cant wait until his new family finds him. Smooch was introduced to other dogs and does well. He's quite happy-go-lucky, but he likes to roughhouse a little so needs to be supervised. He goes out in a playgroup with a few other females and has a great time with them. We
can tell there is a lot of promises in this dog. He looks completely
adorable with his Bulldog face, and he is making a tone of friends
with his charming personality. |
