Not Enough GOOD Homes For Pit Bull Dogs
SPAY & NEUTER
SNKC CAN HELP! |
Considering the current situation, MPR does NOT support show breeding, backyard breeding, "game breeding", or ANY form of Pit Bull breeding. Pit Bulls are overflowing and being destroyed in area shelters - There is NO excuse to add more to an already over-saturated market.

*** DEATHROW DOGS ***
Those are "some" of the countless Pit Bulls held at Animal Control facility. Most of them will be euthanised 5 to 10 days after their arrival depending on their case and if not claimed by their owner.
Those dogs are not up for adoption via MPR. For the sake of our current dogs, MPR cant bail any of them out until we make adoptions. Even if we could afford boarding (which we cant), we want to see our current dogs find loving homes before we bring more into the program.
MPR dogs have been evaluated and proven to have good disposition and stable temperament. They have been socialized, are receiving training and most of them are housebroken and crate trained.
When a MPR dog finds a good home, it makes room in our program to rescue a shelter dog such as the ones below.
By opening your home to a MPR dog, you are saving TWO LIVES!
Once we bring in a new shelter dog in the program we can then proceed with proper temperament evaluation, proper training and socialization.
Please... don't breed or buy while shelter animals die...

| FOSTER HOMES NEEDED April 2009 |
|
|
Each dog in boarding costs about $220.00 a month |
|
Boarding is a life-saving option for the few lucky dogs we can afford to help that way, but we cant do it unless we receive financial assistance from people like you.
We have several programs available. Every penny counts! Become a Helping Hand |
|
As it is, we can't afford helping anymore dogs until our boarding dogs are in foster care. In the meantime, our boarding dogs are in desperate need of foster care. Not only is boarding very expensive, but living in a cage is hard for any dog as sociable as a Pit Bull.
Boarding is a life-saving opportunity for dogs that have no other options. For dogs that came from a difficult situation, boarding is often a step up in life. But boarding needs to be a temporary solution. In order to find a home, our rescue dogs need to learn how to be well-behaved family companions. You can make a difference... PLEASE open your heart and home for one of the sweethearts. They desperately need YOU! Become a Foster Home |

Court to weigh free-speech issue of pit bull case - WASHINGTON (CNN) - The Supreme Court agreed Monday to review whether a federal law outlawing the sale of graphic videos of animal cruelty amounts to a violation of free-speech rights. The justices accepted the Justice Department appeal of a case dealing with a tape showing pit bull dogs attacking other animals and one another in staged confrontations. | Springfield, MO - City Council tables pit bull adoption proposal - A proposal to let animal rescue groups save salvageable pit bulls from the city pound - and adopt them out at least 100 miles away - was tabled Monday night. Councilwoman Mary Collette said she asked city staff for a policy that would end the city's practice of killing all unregistered pit bulls that land in the city pound. But she said she was dissatisfied with some of the conditions the city's legal department came up with, including a $500,000 insurance requirement for rescue groups and the 100-mile adoption limit. |

Miss Universe |
Miss U is a very friendly gal, playful, outgoing and full of spirit. She loves to cuddle and to give kisses. She has bursts of energy when "butt-runs" take the best out of her, followed by intense couch potato moments. Typical Pit bull....
Miss U is a very petite girl, about 40 lbs or so. Compact and well built. Her small size makes her a great cuddling partner. Add to this the fact that she is very loving and affectionate and you have the perfect companion.
Miss Universe is a great representative of the breed, inside and out. While she has a wonderful disposition with people however, we believe she would love to be an only pet so she can soak up all the loving.
Make your home and family complete this Easter by welcoming Miss U into your family! |

Rachel Ewing |
|
This month, MPR wants to recognize the hard work and dedication of Rachel Ewing, a much appreciated member of our group. Rachel began as a foster home for Blockhead (now JayDee) whom she adopted in 2006. Since then, she's provided hospice care for numerous MPR dogs while they recuperated from various illnesses and has always opened her home to MPR dogs when MPR has had urgent situations and the dogs had no where else to go.
Rachel has worked many events; in addition to helping take care of the dogs in boarding, being one of MPR's photographers, helping rescue dogs even in bad weather, and assisting on homechecks, local and long distance!
Not only all that, but she has even provided her home as a storage unit for MPR supplies and has hosted a Garage sale for MPR last summer. It doesn't stop there ... she's also our secretary's secretary helping to keep us all organized and on track!
Rachel does an awesome job managing everything and is always willing to help wherever MPR has the greatest need. We just don't know what we would do without her. Rachel's dedication to MPR doesn't go unnoticed.
Rachel ... your caring, hard work and commitment are such an asset to MPR and the dogs. We are so very fortunate and thankful to have you on board. From the bottom of our hearts ... thank you!

Happy Updates are the fuel that keeps rescuers going..... |
Hey all,
Just wanted to update everyone about Danni (Panda). She has been getting great report cards at Pete and Mac's. She enjoys leading their pack through games like follow the leader cuz she has the toy and is Queen of the mountain. When she plays Queen of the mountain she enjoys barking orders down on the kingdom. I've been trying to teach her to sing with some success although she isn't as musically talented as Brute. While no one is around she enjoys listening to classical, 40s and 50s era music. Newer music tends to perturb the herd.
We sure did get lucky with Danni, she is my little princess. |

Just wanted to send you a little update on lil Oliver (Jupiter) and the family...
We are all doing really great and can't wait for the summer coming up. Oliver loves to go outisde on walks and even runs (brisk walks for him, runs for me) He has a little life jacket waiting for him for summer for boating and the pond we have near the house. His mamma has been letting him sleep on the bed when I'm not there...she just spoils him to death! But he knows his place in HIS bed when I'm home. Some nights I have to go out of town when I enlist a soldier. We also got a new fish, Oliver was so confused at the tank when we got it, but he's come to terms with the water sound now.
Aaron (my Son/Oliver's big brother) is crawling everywhere and walking around holding things and Oliver is always up his butt...just in case he leaves a trail of cheerios...which he often does! :) They are so cute together. Trixie (his big sister and brindle pit/boxer mix) comes to the house every few weeks for a visit and they play ALL DAY!! They only take breaks to breathe, eat/drink, and eat bones...Trixie's always trying to steal his though.
I hope all is well with MPR and look forward to maybe getting to come down that way this summer for vacation. I enclosed some pics of all of us.
Best of Wishes, Shane
